Preserving your bounty

We are a small scale, family, apple pressing business located on the outskirts of Newcastle Emlyn.

‍ ‍We are here to help you enjoy your apples all year round by turning them into juice.

the process

We assume your apples have been grown without pesticides. If you have sprayed or treated your trees with anything, please let us know before you bring your apples to us. This helps us make sure the fruit is safe for our team to handle.

Grow Your Apples

Pick your apples when they are fully ripe.

Click HERE for our guide on knowing when your apples are ready, along with the best ways to pick them.

Pick Your Apples

Apples can be stored for up to four weeks in the right conditions, but we recommend bringing them to us within two weeks of picking for the best results.

You can find our guide to storing apples HERE.

Store Your Apples

When you arrive, we'll transfer your apples into our crates and inspect them, removing any rotten or unsuitable fruit before we begin.

Delivering apples

Before the apples are pulped, they're thoroughly washed to remove dirt, leaves and any other debris.

Clean apples make better juice.

Washing apples

This is where the apples are turned into pulp, ready for pressing.

We've carefully chosen our scratter to give the best possible juice yield from your apples.

Scratting apples

As this is our first year, we've chosen to use two hydro presses to give us plenty of flexibility. We have a 40-litre and a 90-litre press.

As a guide, 1kg of apples produces around 1 litre of pulp and 1 x 75cl bottle of juice, so the minimum amount needed to receive your own batch of juice back is 40kg. Don't worry though - that's only around the crop from one medium-sized tree!

Click HERE to see our guide to typical apple yields.

If you have fewer than 40kg, we're still happy to press them. Your apples will simply be combined with other small batches (including some of our own), and you'll receive delicious mixed orchard juice.

Pressing apples

Once pressed, your juice is flash pasteurised to keep it safe and fresh while holding on to as much of the natural flavour as possible. Our flash pasteuriser can process up to 200 litres of juice per hour.

We've decided to call it Gordon... Flash! Ah-ah! Saviour of the Universe!
